Cider Making Process

The Salt Spring Cider Company uses heritage cider apple varieties that have been proven to produce the best ciders. When making cider blends, we use other heritage variety fruits such as heritage golden raspberries and wild blueberries.

All of our ciders are made from 100% pure juice. We use only the first pressing which gave us the sweetest juice without a bitter after taste. We do not add water, concentrates, synthetic flavourings or chemicals at bottling.

We do not use pasteurization, add fines or filter our juice. All of our ciders are fermented slowly and naturally. This process brings out all of the natural flavours the fruit has to offer while producing a superior craft product.

In keeping with old-world tradition, many of our ciders are aged in small barrels which adds layers of oak flavour and complexity.
