This amazing cider has fresh clean apple aromas with hints of vanilla and spice. The wonderful aromas continue through to the flavour delivering bright, crisp apples, mixed citrus and notes of vanilla and spice.

There are tiny streaming bubbles, a straw colour, and crisp well balanced finish.

Applewood Farm Winery's Apple Jack has a dark caramel colour with aromas of smokey baked apples, vanilla and spice.

It has intense baked apple flavours with complex tannins showcasing heavily charred oak, with notes of cinnamon and vanilla. This Applejack is sweet, well balanced and has a long, smooth, lingering, finish.

This amazing representation of modern Applejack is a must try. Bottled from a small batch that was aged for four years in French and American oak barrels, this Applejack is sure to please the most discerning palate.

With 21% alcohol, it is packaged in a 750 ml whisky bottle, complete with waxed covered stopper and an old-time label design that would make this Applejack a wonderful gift. But don't wait, contact Applewood Farm Winery right away as this one will not last and is going fast.

Ruby Strawberry Rhubarb

Listen:

Ruby is a still Strawberry Rhubarb wine. It has an amber orange colour and aromas of spring rhubarb and fresh summer strawberries that waft out of the glass with hints of apple and vanilla.

The delicate sweetness of strawberries and subtle notes of apple, balanced with the crisp acidity of rhubarb, give this wine intense flavours and style. It is truly a quintessential summer fruit wine.

It is packaged in a 750 ml resealable bottle and has 10% alcohol.

Although the winemaker suggests you serve this wine chilled, I recommend that you serve it at room temperture so you can experience and enjoy all of the amazing flavours and aromas this gem has to offer.

Listen:

This amazing, dry white table wine, is made from locally grown kiwi fruit blended with apples. It has a golden straw colour and a delicate tropical fruit aroma with hints of lime and vanilla.

You will find flavours of apple and mixed citrus, with a blast of tropical fruit followed by a crisp, clean finish. The intensity of tropical fruit flavours gives this dry wine a perceived sweetness.

It is packaged in a resealable 750 ml bottle and has 11% alcohol. This is an excellent food wine.

I really like the bold nature of this blend as a dry table wine. Hats off to Fred Archibald for another fabulous first in fruit wine creation.

Hard Core has a light straw colour and farm apple aromas reminiscent of dry English ciders. It has crisp, tart apple and citrus flavours with a medium finish.

This refreshing cider is packaged in a 750 ml sparkling wine bottle. It has 8% alcohol.

I am a great fan of this style. Its bone dry nature really speaks to its name, Hard Core. If you are a lover of dry sparkling wines, you are sure to love this cider.

Brickworks Batch 1904

Brickworks 1904

Listen:

Brickworks Batch 1904 has a light golden colour and is clear. I can only estimate, but think the alcohol content is about 5%.

The batch I tasted had medium carbonation and very little to no aroma when first poured. I allowed this cider to warm in the glass and could eventually pick up very faint traces of apple and a bit of citrus.

The flavour was clean, but almost non-existent. Watered down comes to mind. With a bit of straining I could pick up small amounts of apple, but this was quickly lost to a distinctly metallic aftertaste.

A metallic aftertaste can be caused by many things. It is important to note that this characteristic could be a problem with a single batch and does not necessarily mean that every batch will taste this way.

This cider has no noticeable structure, other than a bit of carbonic acid from the carbonation.

Cherry Beach

Cherry Beach

Listen:

Cherry Beach cider has tiny, streaming bubbles that elegantly tingle your tongue. There are aromas of red cherries reminiscent of Pinot Noir and subtle apple undertones with wisps of vanilla.

The red cherry continues into the flavour with a pleasing tartness that is mingled with fresh summer melon. This cider has a nice balance of flavours and tannins with a touch of citric acid. You will find a noticeable medium finish that lingers in your mouth.

The batch I tasted had a lovely golden, salmon colour and was slightly cloudy giving it a very natural appearance for a well made craft creation. This cider is mostly dry with a touch of sweetness. It has 7.3% alcohol and was fresh-tapped at BRU Restaurant in Oakville for me to taste.

I understand from the cider maker, Chris Haworth, that this cider was made with Niagara Montmorency Cherries and aged in Pinot Noir barrels. Sour cherries, Pinot Noir and apples, yum!

I highly recommend you try this one.

Gold Dust

Gold Dust

Listen:

Gold Dust lives up to its name with a lovely golden colour. It is hand-crafted from 100% Golden Russet apples.

This dry cider has aromas of fresh sliced apple, a little lemon and notes of passionfruit as it warms in the glass. It is lightly effervescent and has flavours of pineapple, fresh crushed apple and mixed citrus with a touch of sweetness on the finish.

I enjoyed a glass from a freshly tapped keg with a group of revellers at BRU restaurant in Oakville. This cider has 7.5% alcohol and a good tannic structure making it a perfect companion for a number of foods.
