Dry Hop

Dry Hop

Listen:

Dry Hop has a rich golden colour and a grassy aroma reminiscent of Sauvignon Blanc with hints of wildflowers. The grassiness follows through in the flavour with notes of wildflower honey.

This lightly carbonated, off-dry cider has a sweet floral finish. It is packaged in a 22 oz bottle and has 6.9% alcohol. There is not a lot of structure, which limits this style to lighter foods.

Orleans Bitter

Orleans Bitter

Listen:

Orleans Bitter is hand-crafted from a blend traditional and heirloom varieties of apples that were winter cold concentrated and fresh pressed. It was then infused with red currants and blended with dandelion, gentian and angelica bitters. The word that comes to mind is "amazing".

This cider has an amber orange colour and aromas of fresh cut fennel, smokey cherry wood and sliced apples. There are intense flavours of apple, currant and spice with a long, silky smooth finish.

At 16% alcohol, this dry, aromatic cider really warms your cockles. It is packaged in a 750 ml bottle with resealable top.

The cider maker suggests you use this to make classic cocktails such as Negronis, Manhattans and Americanos. However I recommend that you sip it on its own as an aperitif.

Full Nelson

Full Nelson

Listen:

Full Nelson is a dry hopped cider with 6.9% alcohol. It has very light carbonation, a light straw colour and is slightly hazy which is normal for dry-hopped ciders.

I was disappointed to learn that this cider was hopped with Nelson Sauvin Hop Pellets. Although these New Zealand hops impart some of the aromas you might expect in a Sauvignon Blanc, they are just no match for fresh kiln-dried hops.

Case in point, there are aromas of green hops (think alfalfa pellets) and fresh cut apples. The is followed by fresh cut apple and green hop flavours with hints of hay stack.

There is sufficient tannic structure to dry the mouth with a mixed citrus finish that ends with a dry hop note.
