Olde Meade has a pale straw colour and is oak aged with elderflowers. This mead has delicate floral and rich honey aromas with a touch of vanilla and smoke.
It has a well-rounded mouth feel with flavours of summer melon, honey, elderflower and spice. This off-dry mead has noticeable tannins and a buttered toast finish that lingers with just a hint of lemon.
It is made still with 14% alcohol and is packaged in a 750 ml bottle with resealable top.
The flavours and aromas are very clean which speaks to the high quality of this fermented creation. I highly recommend you give this mead a try. I am sure you will love it.
Although paring with light foods such as salads will work well, this style is fantastic sipped on its own. If you feel adventurous, try this one before and during your meal to see how it changes. I am sure you will agree that the buttery, honey richness comes out when served with a meal.
Traditionally this style is referred to as a Metheglin. Metheglin is mead made with herbs and/or spices added. I really like this style and in fact have made this one many times. We used to grow our elderflowers on site for mead and medicinal purposes.
